Since 1995 the Australian and New Zealand Continence Journal has developed with the mission to promote scholarship and the dissemination of information. From practitioners in the disciplines of medicine, nursing, physiotherapy and from other allied health practitioners working to treat and manage incontinence and promote continence in the community. One of the stated aims of the Journal and the Journal Editorial Committee is to assist authors, particularly first time authors, in the preparation of papers for publication.
The Journal is produced under the auspice of the Continence Foundation of Australia (CFA) and the New Zealand Continence Association (NZCA). While the journal promotes scholarship in Australia and New Zealand, it receives inquiry and welcomes papers from practitioners in other regions.
The Journal is a specialist publication and is distributed to all CFA and NZCA members, as a benefit of membership, as well as to other subscribers. The Journal is abstracted and listed on the Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), InfoRMIT, Ebsco, and Australian Medical Index (AMI). A full index of the journal is available and is updated annually.
Aims and Scope:
The aims and scope of the Journal are to provide a forum for dissemination of current research and practice in the diagnosis, treatment and management of incontinence, and promotion of continence to the wider community. The Journal also acts as a forum and exchange of information for all practitioner stakeholders and consumers.
The Journal is unique as it is the only journal published, in Australasia and internationally, specialising in continence issues. It is truly multidisciplinary, bringing together the medical specialties of urogynaecology, urology, gastroenterology, gerontology and paediatrics to name a few. The journal also brings together the work of nurses and physiotherapists in the research and management of incontinence and promoting continence health.
The Journal is a member of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) and follows the recommendations of the International Council of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). It is recommended that all authors review the ICMJE guidelines – The Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals – before submitting papers.
Articles:
The journal invites original research papers, and other scholarly manuscripts, relating to the treatment or understanding of incontinence and health promotion of continence. All manuscripts submitted for peer review are blind reviewed by two members of the Peer Review Board, or those persons with the expertise and academic qualifications that they may be deemed as peers by the Editor.
Other articles are also invited and include letters to the editor (250 words), case studies, article critiques, personal profiles, book reviews, clinical issues papers, evaluations of projects and evaluation of product information. These articles should be 750 -1400 words in length.
Articles may be submitted to the production editor via email, or directly on the web based manuscript system at Cambridge Publishing.
Instructions for authors, and the Competing interest statement which must accompany each paper submitted are available on this website or by contacting production editor Jacinta Miller email: jacmil@bigpond.com
